How about counter surfing?

While Rogan has stolen a cherry or two out of my cup
in weeks past (frozen cherries are my treat of choice),
he had his first official counter surfing on Sunday. While
Jack and I were doing kitchen cleaning, he very neatly
and QUIETLY stole three RAW chocolate chip cookies
from the awaiting-the-oven cookie sheet. Our backs
were turned and he was less than 5 feet from us.

So is he the first to counter surf?

I still say Kate and Karen bred cats. This pup cuddles more
than either of my cats. As I type sitting on my bed, laptop on
my lap, his head rests on the laptop also. Sound asleep...
until I wake him for his last potty run.

He's also learning to use the treadmill (fast walk, 5 mins only).
With treats, even Layla's getting into the act.

I've been lazy and not taken photos of late.

  1. Crystal,

Rogan just sounds like one of the family! At Christmas, Rainey stole a ginger cookie off the cookie sheet as I was putting it in the fridge. Right before my eyes! Bree has not actually surfing anything off a counter yet, but she gets her front feet on EVERYTHING. It's just a matter of time...

The catlike features are DEFINITELY in the genes. All of my vizslas have been this way. They walk along the back of the couches, seek out the sunshine to lay in and curl up in little balls. I currently have one on each side of me!

  2. Ah -- his father's son. While Catcher is, in most things, a paragon of virtue...he can be the worst counter surfer I've had in quite some time. He also digs holes. Big holes. Be ready for that come Spring.

  3. Well! Jaspar takes after his Dad. He proved himself an outstanding counter surfer at barely three months. I was shocked he got his legs and head up there already. But so far, he has had slim pickings. So far....

As for holes...Jaspar has clearly established two of them to date. I fill them back in, and he digs deeper the next time around. We will see if my scolding has impressed him in the least.
